Prevalence
Allergies affect approximately 30% of Canadians. This is allergies in general which are pollens, pets, dust, molds, insect stings, latex, foods and medications. If talking about Anaphylaxis- a severe allergic reaction, (most commonly caused by insect stings, foods, medications, and latex) approximately 2% of Canadians are at risk for anaphylaxis, but is presumed to be closer to 5-6% in children. Certainly there are no trends that indicate some areas are worse for allergies and anaphylaxis, so the numbers could be used as provincial terms as well.
